How Do Treatment & Consult Sessions with Janel Work?
First and Foremost, attempt to schedule your appointment at a time that is convenient for you, where your are not facing additional stress/anxiety to make it to your appointment on-time. As well, sessions may be very powerful and can stir up a lot of energetic and emotional movement and release. If possible, try to schedule a time in which, upon the conclusion of your session, you will have the opportunity to rest and relax for the remainder of the day or at least a few hours!
Energy movement can offer great release and may require replenishment to the physical body in the forms of:
1) drinking lots of water
2) respond to cravings of sugar/salt
3) soaking in a hot salt bath or practicing personal meditation/yoga at home
4) the use of essential oils to continue the release or the healing process
(Janel will often send you home with a personalized oil/blend/bath salt/crystal to work with upon the conclusion of your session (or recommend to you, for a distance session)).
*Distance: Setting aside a specific time for the treatment enables you to be in a more receptive state (such as lying down or meditating during the session). Sessions are typically 30-45 minutes long. You will receive an invitation to join a Zoom Conference for your session. We will meet on this session and you have the option to sign off or remain on while the session takes place.
Janel prepares for the session the same way she does an in-person treatment. At the appointed time, she focuses on you and directs the Reiki energy to positions on the body similar to the way she does when a client is in her office on the massage table. At the conclusion, we will again meet on the session and Janel shares with you what she experiences during the session and follows up with you the next day.
*In-Person: Allow yourself the time and grace to arrive at your appointment 5 minutes prior to your appointment time, preferably without increased stress or anxiety to do so; remember, holistic health is about the whole being and is counterproductive if your appointments are creating additional stress and anxiety. If possible, shoot Janel a quick text or call if you are running a few minutes late. If you will be more than 15 minutes late please contact Janel directly to reschedule your appointment. Come in comfortable fitted or loose fitting clothing, whatever is most comfortable for you. You will be asked to remove your shoes (socks may be removed or worn) and possible layers of clothing, however you will remain fully clothed during our sessions.
Upon logon/arrival we will do a brief intake meeting to determine if there are any specific areas of focus as well as to assist in setting your intention for your session. We will then move to the massage table/zero-gravity chair for your individualized session. As well, at the conclusion of your session we will discuss your personal experience as well as the guidance Janel received within your session to gain further in-sight into your unique experience and intention.
How To Prepare Your Space (distance session)/What to expect (In-Person space):
Distance: Prepare a comfortable place to sit or lie down. You choose your location, whether it is to connect outdoors in nature or in the comfort of your couch or bed, in your meditation space, or by a river… While it’s not necessary for the treatment, if you like you can create a healing space for yourself by – (Some or all of these will be provided for you at your In-person session):
• Meditating or offering a prayer beforehand
• Setting your intention to heal yourself
• Lighting a candle
• Playing relaxing music
• Journaling about what you want from the session before, or about what you notice after
What To Expect:
Clients often notice physical sensations during the session. These might include:
• warmth, tingling, or a sense of peace and relaxation.
• the mind calming down or the alleviation of physical symptoms.
• Some people feel quite alert and aware during the session, while others drift off.
• You may experience color patterns, enhanced auditory/sensory experiences, stories playing out and more…
Remember… there is no right/wrong, good/bad in holistic work as there is no NORMAL we are trying to reach. We are working together to allow you your most authentic and highest self!
Potential benefits include but are not limited to: (distance & in-person)
• Helps you ground and center yourself, similar to the benefits of meditation
• Eases anxiety and depression
• Improves sleep
• Balances mood and your emotions

At the end of the session, take a few minutes (longer if you like) to integrate everything from the session, taking a few deep breaths and sitting up slowly. Listen to your body and rest and move accordingly. Remember to drink lots of water and honor your souls’ callings of self-care and replenishment!
Thank you for allowing me to share in your Session.
Namaste … Janel M.
